Athos was born on 4th of May, 2005, in kennel Bernieshine from Ivančna Gorica. His mother is Daiclaps Cellina and his father CH SLO, CH CRO, CH I, CH INT and CH BIH Hamilton degli Antichi Mulini. I have never thought that Athos would follow his father's steps. Already very soon, when he had only 9 months, we visited first show. Athos was excellent in ring, so we decided to continue with showing. I was thrilled about each win. He soon became junior champion of Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia and Montenegro. When he matured, he became also champion of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Austria and also international champion in beauty. With his outstanding performance and energy he convinced most of judges. Until he turned out 4 years he visited more than 60 shows. Now he occasionally shows himself in the rings and often wins.
 
Athos is from my point of view a perfect dog, from out - and inside.It is really hard to find one like him, he has for me one of bests heads, excellent eyes, extremely strong bones and he moves with an excellent drive. He is a real showoff, his is truly enyojing showing himself in the ring.
 
He is very dynamic dog with no fear at all - no matter what situations is he confronted to. He passed the character test in France in 2007 with excellent grade. He truly has a right bernese character, he is nice and kind to people, tolerant to other animals and true cuddling boy. He was really wild until he turned 3 years, I even scared for him to get hurt. I remember an event from a puppy school, when he was 6 months old. He is in a fenced yard, waiting school to start, when he saw his boxer friend outside the fence. They were both running with full speed, but there were iron doors at the end. He crashed into the doors with such power that the doors opened. But he just picked himself up and finally came to his schoolmate.
I visited puppy school with Athos; and this is why he is the way he is - just perfect. He is a dog with extreme power of will and character and that is why we had some problems with authority at the beginning – with hard and persistant work he perceived, that I am the boss. Now we truly get along perfectly – I fully understand him, what he wants, what problems does he have, when he is sad and when he is happy. And just reverse, also he knows, when he can be naughty boy and when it is better just to sit right beside me and look at me with great eyes. He specialized himself in blackmailing for cuddling - he shows this wish on special way - he stirkes you under your arm with his head and when this is not enough, he puts his heavy paw on your leg. I don't have to mention that he is not very gentle when doing this :)
Because of his energy I started to visit agility course with Athos. Already in the first few hours he showed that he is, despite his weight, the right one for this dog sport. He is extremely fast, he does all obstacles without a problem and has no fear at all. Bridge, swing, palisade or just jump – it doesn't matter, only that he runs fast and jumps around. We also visited some agility matches, where he also managed to get some good results for bernese. He cannot run in any other way then to bark, bark and bark all the time. With barking he is saying how much he is enyoing.
 
Because Athos is beautiful and healthy, he is a stud dog since 2007. In this moment he has 8 litters in Slovenia and Austria. His offspring are shown sometimes and are getting nice results. He is a real stud dog, because he mated almost all bitches naturally. He is very persistant and is able to mate also some annoying bitches.

Athos goes almost everywhere with me. He loves to swim, he is totally crazy to water, even though he didn't like water until his 3th birthday. He is very fast swimmer and swimmer to "long distances". He likes snow even more, so he goes with me also skiing. Winter is really the right time of a year for our tricolor bears, because they enyoj running on the snow, wallowing and chasing snowflakes.
 
 
What can I more say about Athos? He is truly perfect and there is no person, who can stay unresponsive near Athos. He has one bad habit: in his joy and hapiness not an hour goes by that he wouldn't bark. I could say that barking is his well known sign (even though this is not tipical for a breed). |
